Reality Check: Is Your Foundation in a Bundle?
A couple of years ago I was working with a coaching client who was having a really off day. It was like everything she touched went haywire, and she was helplessly watching a lot of the things she had built fall away. It was so awful all she could do was laugh. I laughed with her too because I had been having a similar day that day and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Everything was just off. I told her that just before our call I had taken a bathroom break and sitting there I looked down and saw that my underwear was inside out. I busted out laughing and thought “well that explains it! My foundation is all turned around!”
I’ve had some experiences since then that weren’t so funny though. Times when my finances were a mess, and my relationships even messier. And I was so busy listening to all the voices in my head that went back and forth between “Oh, it’s OK, nothing’s THAT bad” to “You’re a piece of work, you know that? You can’t let anyone know what’s going on, they’ll think you’re f’d up and won’t want to work with you, be friends, or refer to you….” So I hid.
I hid from myself. I hid from others. I hid from the Truth. I didn’t want to look at it, it was too scary, too painful, too…shameful.
Perhaps you know the feeling?
My foundation was off, and I buried my head in the dirt because I didn’t want to see what I had created. I just kept digging myself further into a hole because I didn’t know what else to do.
The shame grew.
It grew because I made myself and everything I had created WRONG.
I couldn’t create a way out because I was so focused on hiding how bad I felt, how embarrassed I was that I, an educated, spiritual, bold, ‘healer of the mind,’ had created this………..this f’d up mess. If I created it, it must mean I am f’d up too. That’s how I secretly thought about myself and my situation.
I had spent considerable time and energy trying to “heal” and “fix” my situation. Trying to release the shame without actually dealing with it. I kept seeing shame as something negative and unspiritual.
Huh? Um, did you just say that shame isn’t negative? It’s maybe even spiritual?
Why yes, I did just say that.
How can that be? Isn’t shame the furthest vibration from God? From Love?
How can shame not be negative, and in fact be spiritual?
Let’s step back a second and look at it in terms of business. Being an entrepreneur is one of the most grueling and rewarding spiritual paths we can undertake. It brings up all our crap. It reveals us to ourselves and to the world. It calls us to heal the dark parts of ourselves so we can bring our light into the world in bigger and bigger ways. If we make ourselves wrong and unloveable for our darkness, we won’t be serving the right energy. We will be serving fear, not Love.
Humans are motivated by two main things: pain and pleasure. Most people buy when they are in pain. They take action when they are in pain. That’s when they are often in the space of shame. People also buy when they are inspired (pleasure). When their Inner Voice says, “Yes! This is part of the journey. Do this and you will grow…”
I have found that sometimes our Inner Voice, that voice of Spirit, of God within us, will actually help us to create situations that feel and look “bad” and “wrong” on the outside, so we can finally get to the place where we are “right” with our insides.
Sometimes we need it to get really painful in order to wake the heck up. Sometimes God gives us the right medicine, we just judge it and ourselves as wrong.
When you really get this, everything changes.
Folks, Spirit is always at work in you and through you. There is nothing wrong with you or your life. Even when it’s dark.
I’ve created the Inner Voice Circle to help you truly get this at your core. It’s for those of you who know what you need to be doing, but you’re not doing it. You know you’re meant to be a thought leader, but instead you get your panties in a bundle and get derailed. If your done having your big girl underpants on backwards and are ready to create a strong internal foundation where you’re listening to your Inner Voice instead of the little voices, then you’ll want to be a part of this circle.
It starts in early May. Registration is happening now. This combination of group teaching and individual coaching program is designed to help you build a strong foundation from within, so that your outer world matches the True you, the you that is alright, no matter what’s going ‘wrong’ out there.
To find out more and to see if you are a good fit for this program set up a time to chat with me.
